As Sakshi is a vegetarian and Rima has just become vegan for a little while we were both on the hunt for restaurants that would cater to both of our dietary restrictions. One of the first restaurants that pop up is Café Mosaics. So both of us took this adventure in high spirit.

The first thing we noticed is that there is no big sign that shows exactly where the restaurant is, It’s just a small little notice outside the door. Not terribly hard to find but not as obvious as other shop located near that area. When you enter the ambiance is nice and casual, a place where you can spend time alone eating and reading a book but also a place where you can chat and catch up with friends.

I had ordered the falafel bowl, which was $17.00, and also a dirty chai, which was priced at $6.00 and Rima, got the Open Secret Bowl for $19.00 and a London Fog tea for $4.00. This restaurant caters and is considerate to all dietary restrictions as The Open Secret bowl had sour cream and they were more than willing to substitute it for a vegan sour cream.

The dirty chai was a little bitter but I added sugar into it and it tasted very soothing to my sore throat. The Falafel bowl was HUGE, it was plated beautifully yet I think that the portions are way to big for one person. It tasted amazing, and had a very light spice to it that was a nice medley in your mouth. Yet I do think it may be a little chickpea over load as there were 4 falafel patties and then right under a lot of hummus.

The London tea smelled divine and was very relaxing and calming and tasted a little like black tea but anyone who loves tea will really enjoy this. The open bowl was both sweet and a little hot so the flavor complimented each other nicely. The sweetness in the rice was more of a background taste rather than an after taste to the spice. The small bits of tofu tasted amazing and the vegan sour cream tasted the same as regular sour cream. I wish that it were a little spicier though because near the end the main flavor was mainly sweet, even with the sriracha sauce added. The portion of this bowl was a little to much as I couldn’t finish the whole thing.

Over all for the ambiance and the price the resultant is a great little adventure to take. The price range for the amount of food you get is very reasonable therefore this restaurant is a must try even if you are not vegan or vegetarian you will love the variety of items this place offers.
