Excerpt 1: On Nihilism

Excerpt 1: On Nihilism

The oddest occurrences and conducts tend to take life within these walls. Mind you these walls are not concrete and neither brick. These walls are within the ranges of our own cognitive senses, intricately woven and ornate, in the hue of vermillion and scent of incent.  The person within is no more trapped than free. He is tethered down by only the quaint and desolate melody of echoing hymns.

One of them sits murmuring chants to the idols with eyes sealed and the mind clear. Another stands in the corner in vriksasana having fallen into a complete trance.  The third has brought along wealth, a commodity in quite abundance for him, in intention that it will help cure his illness. It may seems like an impoverished circus to some, but for others, these forms of expression seem justified given their context.

Rationality has its limitations. It surrenders to its own inquisitions and is a crutch for those who refuse to acknowledge the enigmatic. One cannot explain what one does not understand. Yet, it is understandable where and when these notions take precedence. Religion has served as the motivation for partitions and superiority complexes. It is the vessel that serves as smoke for inflated egos and aggressions. On an interpersonal note, its idiosyncrasies seem to repress autonomy and enforce a herd mentality. Dictating what a person should think, wear or say, often rooted in misogyny. Yet all this is not religion.

One falls conveniently prey to this deception and under this pretense cannot fully acknowledge the charm those mythologies and moral teachings, which consistently have relevance to our daily lives. I encourage you to seek spirituality as a means of self-revelation. Take ownership and diligently hunt your demons. The relationship you have with a deity is your and no one else’s.
